Groundwater potential zones identification and validation in Peninsular India

چکیده
Groundwater mapping is essential for meeting the water requirement of people. Identification groundwater potential zone was attempted a watershed located in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, India. The Landsat 8 and 5 data were used land use/land cover analysis. For delineating zone, total seven thematic layers namely drainage density, slope, geology, soil, geomorphology, rainfall, observed levels considered during Afterwards converted into raster using GIS platform. Further, after assigning weights ratings to each layer, overlay analysis applied five zones delineated as very good, moderate, poor, poor. majority area has moderate zone. map also validated ROC method. 2005 shows highest accuracy compared rest year maps.

The remotely sensed data provides synoptic viewing and repetitive coverage for thematic mapping of natural resources. In the present study hydrogeomorphological mapping has been carried out in Ottanchattiram Block, Dindugal District, Tamil Nadu for delineating groundwater potential zones. Landsat ETM+ Geocoded FCC data in conjunction with Survey of India toposheet (1:50000 scale) were used for ...

A Geoelectrical resistivity survey using Vertical Electrical Soundings (VES) was carried out in Medak District, Andhra Pradesh, India, in order to assess the subsurface geology and groundwater potential zones. Twenty six vertical electrical soundings were recorded with Schlumberger electrode configuration with current electrode spacing (AB/2) half ranging from 1 to 150m. The field data has been...
